Gay Street, Knoxville, Christmas Day

Gay Street, Knoxville, Christmas Day

For the second year in a row my family went out to a movie in downtown Knoxville on Christmas Day.

Knoxville’s downtown is in the midst of what I believe is a fantastic revival. It started to gain steam just as I was leaving town, but I love coming back down to see how what else is new.

The Regal Riviera was added a couple of years, and allows current residents to carry on the old tradition of walking along Gay Street, turning under a flashing marquee, and getting lost in a grand story.

We saw the Coen Brother’s update of “True Grit.” I love Westerns and am glad to see the genre is alive and kicking and cussing and shooting.
