It’s been a wild 36 hours in Chicago. The Great Blizzard of 2011, or Joakim Snowah or Snowprah or whatever we’re calling it, fell upon the city as expected.

More than 22 inches surrounded our coach house, with drifts piling up to my waist. After a day of shoveling I managed to create a network of trenches worthy to defend Hoth from advancing AT-ATs.

Our street has yet to be plowed so we built a snowman in the middle of the road. Tomorrow morning Mr. Plow will have to make a difficult decision.

Elsewhere in our neighborhood a few pubs were open and full, dogs were bounding through the powder off leash and some college students built a 6-foot tall snow man with beer bottle nose and six-pack abs (as in six-pack of PBR).

I grabbed a few pics of downtown on my way home from work last night before the heavy stuff hit. You can also see a screen grab from WGN news this morning. The snowfall created some serious problems along Lake Shore Drive, which led to some awkwardly worded headlines.

Stay Frosty!
